چکیده

Background X-ray magnetic resonance fusion (XMRF) is used to enhance fluoroscopically guided catheterization procedures. We present a new method for biplane XMRF involving an augmented fluoroscopy prototype (Siemens, Forchheim, Germany). With this software it is possible to register 3D MRI data to biplane X-ray projections based on internal markers, without the need for a C-arm CT to perform 3D/3D registration. The software supports overlaying volume rendered data as well as multiple surface models. Visualization techniques, such as contour or solid rendering and surface carving are supported to allow for clear presentation of complex 3D structures.

X-ray magnetic resonance fusion to internal markers and utility in congenital heart disease catheterization.

BACKGROUND X-ray magnetic resonance fusion (XMRF) allows for use of 3D data during cardiac catheterization. However, to date, technical requirements have limited the use of this modality in clinical practice. We report on a new internal-marker XMRF method that we have developed and describe how we used XMRF during cardiac catheterization in congenital heart disease. METHODS AND RESULTS XMRF w...

Gadolinium-enhanced 3-dimensional magnetic resonance angiography of pulmonary blood supply in patients with complex pulmonary stenosis or atresia: comparison with x-ray angiography.

BACKGROUND In patients with complex pulmonary stenosis or atresia, a detailed delineation of all sources of pulmonary blood supply is necessary for planning surgical and transcatheter procedures and usually requires diagnostic cardiac catheterization. The goals of this study were to determine whether gadolinium-enhanced 3D magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) can provide a noninvasive alternati...

A case of persistent left superior vena cava with absent right superior vena cava draining into dilated coronary sinus: magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography findings

Conclusions Although PLSVC is usually asymptomatic, it is important to be aware of its existence, since it may cause problems performing central venous catheterization, pacemaker implantation and cardiothoracic surgery. This anomaly is also associated with high incidence of congenital heart disease, arrhytmias and conduction disturbances. Modern imaging techniques including computed tomography ...

Magnetic resonance--guided cardiac catheterization in a swine model of atrial septal defect.

BACKGROUND Radiation exposure during cardiac catheterization, limited image planes, and poor soft tissue definition are disadvantages of x-ray fluoroscopy that could be overcome with the use of MRI. This study evaluates the feasibility of real-time MRI (MR fluoroscopy) to guide left and right heart catheterization. METHODS AND RESULTS Anesthetized pigs (n=7) with defects of the atrial septum ...
